Privacy and Cookie Policy

borgosangiuliano.it is there to be read and nothing else: there are no accounts to create, no forms to fill in and no newsletter to sign up to. That is why this notice is short: very little personal data goes anywhere, and what we do collect stays on our own server.

Who processes this data

BorgoSanGiuliano.it is a private site published for information purposes, run by an independent editorial team. It is not the official site of Borgo San Giuliano, of Rimini city council, of any tourist board, association or event, and it has no affiliation with or appointment from any of them.

The processing described on this page therefore covers this site alone. The bodies, associations and businesses we write about, including the association that organises the Festa de' Borg, have their own privacy notices and their own responsibilities: the details are in the legal notice.

No cookies, no third-party services

The site sets no cookies at all, neither technical nor profiling ones, and it uses no Google Analytics or any other advertising, marketing or profiling platform. No browsing data is passed on or sold to anyone.

We collect our visitor statistics ourselves, with a counter installed on our own server. How it works is set out below.

Our own statistics

To understand which pages are being read and how to improve them, we use a purpose-built counter hosted on this domain (/stats/). The data never leaves our server and no outside company receives it.

What is recorded

  • the page visited, with the date and time of the visit;
  • the page you came from (the referrer), if there is one;
  • your screen resolution and the language set in your browser;
  • how long you actually spend reading the page;
  • any campaign parameters in the address (for example utm_source or gclid), if you arrive from a tagged link.

What stays on your device

These are not cookies, but they are worth mentioning all the same: the counter saves two random identifiers in your browser's local storage. They are generated on your own device and are not linked to your identity.

  • _vid (localStorage): its only job is to tell a first visit from a return visit; it stays until you clear the site's data;
  • _sid and _ads (sessionStorage): they hold the pages of a single session together, along with the campaign you arrived from; they disappear when you close the tab.

You can remove them at any time from your browser settings, using the option that clears site data.

Your IP address

The IP address is truncated before it is saved: for IPv4 we zero out the last group of digits, for IPv6 we keep only the opening part. What is left cannot be traced back to an individual. It is also used to work out a daily code that changes every day and cannot be used to follow anyone over time.

Why there is no banner

These are first-party statistics: they stay on our server, the IP is truncated, there is no profiling and nothing is shared with third parties. On those terms prior consent is not required, so there is no banner for you to accept or refuse.

The two resources loaded from Google

As you browse, your browser downloads two kinds of resource from Google's servers:

  • the typefaces (Google Fonts, from the domains fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), used on every page;
  • the map of the Parcheggio Tiberio on the Getting Here page, built with Google Maps, which may set Google cookies when it loads.

In both cases Google receives the IP address making the request and handles the data as described in its privacy policy.

Hosting logs

The server hosting the site keeps the usual technical access logs: IP address, date and time, page requested. They exist to keep the service running and to spot any abuse; we do not use them to identify people and we do not combine them with other information.

How long we keep the data

Individual session data and the technical logs are deleted after 90 days. What remains is the aggregate totals per page and per day, which hold nothing that could be traced back to a person and let us compare periods from year to year.
